Scribe for iPhone
Your words.
Your control.
Scribe keeps recording and speech processing on your device. You choose when your work leaves it.
This policy describes Scribe for iPhone, including its development and beta versions, and support for the app. Scribe is developed by Charles N. Madden. The separate Mac privacy policy explains the Mac app’s optional integrations.
What stays on your iPhone
Recordings, transcripts, written notes, personal vocabulary, highlights, review items, and processing checkpoints are stored in local app files. Recording begins when you choose to start it. You do not need a Scribe account.
Speech recognition, library search, and transcript processing run on your device. On compatible devices, Apple’s on-device Foundation Models can help select passages from a transcript. Scribe for iPhone does not send your recordings or transcripts to a Scribe server or a cloud transcription service.
The iPhone app includes no advertising SDK, tracking SDK, analytics SDK, or third-party crash reporter. We do not sell your recordings or notes.
When information can leave your device
Model downloads
Downloading a speech model connects to Hugging Face and its download infrastructure. Those services receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address and the model files requested. Your recordings and transcripts are not part of these requests. After installation, transcription runs locally. See Hugging Face’s privacy policy.
Sharing, exports, and folder continuity
When you share audio, text, a PDF, or a backup, the destination you choose receives those files. Optional folder continuity runs when you choose a folder and tap Sync now. An iCloud Drive folder or another cloud file provider may upload these copies. Those providers’ settings and privacy practices apply.
The separate Mac app supports optional remote AI providers. If you move a conversation to that app and choose a remote provider there, the Mac app’s settings and privacy policy apply to that request.
Reminders and device backups
When you confirm an action and add it to Reminders, its text and source excerpt are written to your selected default Reminders list. That list may sync with its configured account. Local app files may also be included in device backups, depending on your Apple and backup settings.
App Store and TestFlight
Apple handles App Store transactions. Scribe checks signed purchase information on your device; it does not receive your payment-card details or operate a billing server. If you participate in a TestFlight beta, Apple may collect usage, crash, and feedback information under its TestFlight terms. See Apple’s privacy information.
Support
If you email support@scribe.computer, Zoho Mail processes the message, your email address, and any attachments you choose to send. We use this information to answer your request and investigate the issue. Please avoid sending private recordings, transcripts, passwords, or payment information. See Zoho’s privacy policy.
Support correspondence is kept as needed to handle requests and maintain relevant support records. You can email us to request access, correction, or deletion of information you sent us; records needed for legal obligations or resolving disputes may need to be retained. Public GitHub issues are handled by GitHub and visible to others, so use email for private support.
Your choices and deletion
You choose when to record, import, download a model, share, sync a folder, or add an action to Reminders. Microphone and Reminders permissions can be changed in iPhone Settings. Downloaded models can be removed in Scribe’s settings.
Deleted conversations remain in Recently Deleted until you restore or permanently delete them. Removing the app deletes its local app data. Exported copies, backups, synced folders, file-provider history, and items already added to Reminders may remain; manage those through their respective destinations. We cannot recover or remotely delete recordings held only on your device.
